Saint Martha's Regional Hospital was originally founded in 1906 by the congregation of the Sisters of St. Martha, whose presence is still very much felt today. Located in the town of Antigonish, St. Martha's Regional Hospital is an acute care facility providing a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient and satellite deliverances. St. Martha's has grown through the span of its 100+ years of existence. In 2008 A.H. Roy completed a major upgrade to the existing 28-year-old hospital, enhancements that included a new renal dialysis clinic, the installation of an MRI unit and an expansion to the emergency department. The renovation also included a major upgrade to the Martha Centre, which now houses many outpatient and doctors' offices.
